Diagnosis
Upper frons and lateral vertex with raised and strong reticulation; mesoscutum and scutellum dark metallic bluish-green, mesoscutum with raised and rather strong reticulation, scutellum with engraved and very weak reticulation; femora predominantly metallic bluish-green, with apices yellowish-white; colour of tibiae variable (see below); female gaster elongate, MM/LG = 0.6, first gastral tergite with weak punctures posteriorly. Similar to latrodecti (and with similar host preferences), but differs in having a long female gaster and a long median carina on propodeum.

Biology
The specimens in the type series have been reared from an egg cocoon of an unidentified araneid spider (Araneidae).
Similar species in Lucid key
caudatus, but macrocercus with frons with interscrobal area and part just above frontal suture smooth, flagellum short, e.g. 1st flagellomere 1.1X as long as wide.
